Every student aspires to get admission in a good college. Making it to one of the most prestigious universities of the country i.e. Delhi University is a dream come true for an aspirant. Established in 1922, it has become a strong pillar, presently supported by 77 colleges and comprises of 1,32,000 students(approx.).

It’s not denying the fact that colleges in North Campus adds on to the gleam of Delhi University especially colleges such as SRCC, Hindu, Hansraj and many others in the North Campus have become facets of the university in which every student has a desire to study. But there are many other colleges in the university which are not renowned but are emerging as the gems of the university.

These are the 5 most growing colleges of Delhi University(In no particular order) :

1. Keshav Mahavidyalya

Keshav Mahavidyalya is one of the youngest colleges of Delhi University in terms of its foundation. It came into existence in the year 1994. The college is situated at Pitampura which is also the commercial and retail centre of Delhi. The college is aptly justifying its vision i.e. “Only Knowledge can provide salvation” and recently secured “A” grade in the NAAC assessment. It is also one of the very few colleges of Delhi University to have a spacious and comfortable Girls’ Hostel. The college offers 9 undergraduate courses and is being ranked one of the best colleges for BMS course. When it comes to extra-curricular activities, the college has many societies and clubs to provide exposure to the students. The societies such as SHADES(Dramatics Society), SPIC-MACAY(Classical Music Society), VAGMITA(The poetry and debating society) are considered as the pillars of the college and are renowned in the entire university.


2. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College (Yes, it’s in Karol Bagh)

The college started out in 1973 as Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur khalsa(Evening) College. In the year 2005, the college transformed into a full-fledged morning college and renamed Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College. The commerce department of the college is playing a very crucial role in the growth of the college. Presently, the college offers 8 under-graduate courses and 2 post-graduate courses. The faculty is very supportive and influential. The 17 brilliant societies i.e. Udyamita-The Entrepreneurship Cell, Vanaj(The commerce society), SOFICA(For Financial Literacy and Consumer Awareness), Kirt (The Economics Society), Vedang-The Debating & Quizzing Society, Bhangra Society and many others are the backbone of the college. Recently, the entrepreneurship cell of the college has established an Incubation Centre to nurture the young entrepreneurial minds of Delhi University.


3. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College

DDUC was established in the year 1990 in Karampura, Delhi. Recently, the college has shifted to Sector-3, Dwarka and the infrastructure is amazing. There are 9 under-graduate courses being offered by the college with some add-on courses in Russian language and Effective Communication and Personality Development which are very popular amongst students. The college has an extraordinary placement cell which is working very nicely to offer internships and placements to the students. Besides, the societies such as Voice (Debating Society), Raaga(Dance Society) are continuously bringing accolades to the college. There are many clubs also which provide a strong support to the college.


4. Shivaji College

When it comes to Shivaji college, what comes to our mind is “VAYAM” – The theatre society of Shivaji College. Shivaji College is the another emerging college of Delhi University with an “A” grade, accredited by NAAC recently. The college was established in the year 1961 and is situated near Raja Garden. The college has extensive playgrounds which provide an excellent opportunity to students to participate in various games and sports. The college has many other societies and clubs which are quite supportive to build up confidence among student and exhibiting different genres such as art and literature, music, dance, debate and the most respected the theatre society. The Science department is the backbone of Shivaji College with great faculty members and good crowd.


5. MotiLal Nehru College

MLNC has celebrated its golden jubilee recently. Located in the south campus, the college is one of the largest constituent colleges of Delhi University with an enrollment of 3000 students. It is also the first college in the entire Delhi University to adopt rain water harvesting. The college currently offers 13 under-graduate and post-graduate courses and over the past 50 years, the students of the college have excelled in the field of academics, sports and entrepreneurship. The college has a strong hold in the extra- curricular activities and societies like Aadhar(The dramatics society), Electra(The Western Dance Society), Archon(Leadership and Personality Development Cell) are burning mid night oil to establish their virtue in the entire university.
