Travel Trends

Travelling has always been a great way to get a break from the busy and boring monotonous lifestyle of the 21st century. Indian travellers have broken several boundaries with young parents travelling with children, women holidaying alone and families straying off the beaten path. We’ve also evolved into a more ecologically sensitive breed of travellers, showing sensitivity towards the environment and making green choices whenever possible.

1. Be Social

If it is not on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, it is not real! People are sharing discoveries as they travel and having conversations with friends and family on the go. Though a bit of this exchange on social media is about showing off, it is also about sharing the wonder of a new place and enabling others t home to enjoy a bit of armchair travel.

2. Choose Green

Travellers have also begun to ask questions about how the way they travel affects the environment. When picking a hotel or a place to stay, people now want to know how they manage their waste and resources, whether they recycle, if they use solar energy, and contribute to the local economy. Giving preference to properties that adopt green measures is the least one can do for the environment. Let’s hope more and more people catch the green bug.

3. Have kids and still travel

Modern couples who love to travel often worried that having a child might mean a complete change in their lifestyle. And though parenthood brings a lot of changes, one thing which continued unabated in last few years is the travel, with more parents taking trips with infants as young as six months, building up a bank of memories that any child will be thrilled to grow into.

4. Travel to Learn

As any traveller knows, a journey isn’t about seeing a new place, but also about learning new things about ourselves and the world we live in. Recognising the fact that an education isn’t just gained in classroom, more and more parents are planning trips with their children to provide them exposure to different cultures from an early age. And if along the way, they manage to sneak in a lesson on physics or geography, who minds!

5. Girls Like to Travel

There was a time when girls rarely travelled alone, but that’s long gone. Since the birth of women-only travel clubs that gave girls the courage to step out with a group of others like them, they have never looked back. Whether it is young girl out of college, a female photographer on assignment or a mama of two looking for a break while daddy takes care of the kids, ladies are no longer waiting for someone else to take them on a trip.
