The PABT test is the combination of-

  1. Written Test
  2. Machine Test.

Written Test

This is an objective type test, here a candidate is required to answer 60 questions within 20 minutes. The questions are based on the six meters of an aircraft; initially, a detailed explanation of all the instruments is given to all the candidates who have applied for flying branch, and then the written test is conducted.

The main idea of conducting this test is to check the ability to read and interpret the dials of an instrument panel of an aircraft by the candidates. Following are the type of meters that are explained:

  1.  Magnetic Compass
  2.  Speedometer
  3.  Altimeter
  4.  Turn or back indicator
  5.  Artificial Horizon or Altitude Indicator
  6.  Climbing and descent indicator

enlightenedONLY THOSE WHO QUALIFY THE WRITTEN TEST ARE ELIGIBLE TO GIVE THE MACHINE TEST.

enlightenedNOTE- PABT is once in a lifetime test for an individual and is conducted on a single day. Candidates failing in clearing the PABT are not recommended for the flying branch. Also, they cannot apply again in the future for the fighter pilot.
