GIRL’S EDUCATION : A LIFELINE TO DEVELOPMENT

Education is very important for every child whether boy or girl. Education is the human right. No one would deny that educating someone is waste of time and money. In this world, people get respect if they are educated, if they have knowledge. Girl’s education is one of the most effective ways to develop our nation. The benefits of their education can be seen by individuals, family, and society. It is sad that some communities still discriminate against the education of the girl child. About 57million children around the world are not going to school. An African proverb says, “If we educate a boy, we educate one person. If we educate a girl, we educate a family – and a whole nation.” By sending a girl to school, she is far more likely to ensure that her children also receive an education. Investing in a girl’s education is investing in a nation. Girls are like lamps which can lead to success. Girls should be educated to make the society, family proud. Girls are eyes of family and the society. Despite progress, girls and women continue to be discriminated against in accessing education and within education systems. Girls can share the burden of men in the different walk of life. They can serve the society as teachers, lawyers, doctors and administrators. They can work at banks, hospitals, government offices and large businesses. They can play an important role during war. Now-a-days it is difficult for the people of the middle class to make both ends meet. After marriage, educated girls can add to the income of their husbands. Education empowers a grown up girl to become economically independent. They will be able to stand up for their rights. Girls have all the rights to get educated. Empowerment of girls and women is necessary to fight against the problem of gender-inequality. The progress of a country depends on girls’ education. So, girls’ education should be encouraged.
