The first programmer is a female and her name is Augusta Ada Byron. Ada, as a child was more passionate about writing poems and aspired to become a great poet like her father. But her mother discouraged her and made her learn mathematics and science. She belongs to the period of Charles Babbage. She became very interested in Charles inventions like an Analytical engine driven by steam programmed by punch cards. She completely understood the machine and wrote proposals for and predictions of the machine capabilities, including a description of how it might calculate Bermouli number. Thus, she became the first computer programmer even before the invention of computer.

She is popularly known as Lady Ada Lovelace as she married Lovelace.
